Georg Hartmann, founder of the predecessor company R. Hatmann - KULBA Bauchemie, founded in Großschönau/Saxony a company for he manufacturing of a wood
preservative called "KULBA".

Dr.-Ing. Bernhard Hartmann joins the company. The business moves to Coswig near Dresden and has been enlarged considerably.

1928 - 1934
The product range was extended to the production of building protection and printing colors.

After world war II the rconstruction began very slowly in Saxony. Additionally Dr. Bernhard Hartmann was faced to a forced expropriation which caused him to leave Coswig and build up a new existence in Ansbach, North Bavaria.

Due to the continuous expansion of the product assortment the existin manufaturing becam too small and a new plant in the industrial area of Ansbach, district Brodswinden, was built.

Immediately after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the brand and company KULBA have been accessible again in all Eastern German states. This was eased by the fact that KULBA had been the only approvd wood presrvativ of west origin in the GDR.

In May 2002 Mr. Peter Bräunlein acquires the trademark rights, he complete knowledge and especially all prodcut recipes of KULBA. Only a few weeks later, on 01.07.2002, the former company Dr. Hatmann KULBA Bauchemie became a division of PIGROL Farben GmbH.

PIGROL extends the product range by the industrial coatings of the Finnish parent company. The nw business unit Tikkurila Industrial coatings with the maket-leading
mixing system Temaspeed is created.

The PIGROL Farben GmbH taks over th wood and coating systems of the company Anton André & Sohn GmbH located in Oppenau, Germany. For the integration of the Tardin (additive for plaster) production machine a reconstruction of the production hall is performed.

The PIGROL Farben GmbH celebrates its 75th anniversary. A festiv evening was th highlight of the anniversary yea and took place on September 19th, 2009 with famous
 guests: German ski legends Rosi Mittermaier and Christian Neureuther.

PIGROL's Finnish parent company Tikkurila Oyj goes public. It is a market leader in Scandinavia, the Baltic States, Poland and Russia, with annual sales of more than 500 million €.

Furthermore KULBA celebrates its 100th anniversary. World reference objets from Abu Dhabi across Milan till Russia approv the competence and high-performance of KULBA products.

The new branch "Farbnatur" was founded. Hereunder the products PIGROL Beutenschutz-Lack and PIGROL Beutenschutz-Lasur are market, which are especially developed for the protection of beehives and other working equipments in the beekeeping. The products are tested and certified by independed German institutes of apiology.

By the end of 2013 the company name has changed into Tikkurila GmbH.
